The Master’s degree in ICT for Internet and Multimedia (MIME) is celebrating its first graduate!

On October 1st, 2018, Lorenza Prospero defended her thesis and graduated summa cum laude.

Her project on an autonomous navigation system for lawn mower robots was successfully completed and made her the first to be awarded the MIME degree.

In her thesis, Lorenza developed a three-dimensional vision system for self-driving lawn mowers.

Nowadays, autonomous lawn mowers must follow an underground wire; thanks to the system developed by Lorenza, instead, a mower will be able to recognize markers and objects in the surrounding area and to determine its position on its own.

Thus, the system can work without any external aid, thereby avoiding the cost and the trouble of installing the underground wires.
